  • SCHOOL BOARD FILING NOTICE

    SOUTHERN BOONE COUNTY R-I SCHOOLS

    ASHLAND, MISSOURI

    The Southern Boone County R-I School District will accept declarations of candidacy from any person interested in running for a position on the School Board in the April 3rd, 2018 election. Persons interested may file at the Superintendents office located at 303 North Main, Ashland, MO.

    Filing will begin on December 12th, 2017, at 8:00 a.m. and will continue during the district's regular business hours, which are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. when school is in session. The days that school is not in session, the office will be open 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The office will be closed in cases of inclement weather. The office will be closed on December 22", December 25" 2017, December 29", and January 2nd and January 15" 2018. The filing time will be extended until 5:00 p.m. on January 16" 2018.

    There are two positions available with a three-year term.

    Please note that per HB-300 regulations, MSHSAA has released its annual Interscholastic Youth Sports Brain Injury Report regarding the impact of student athlete concussions and head injuries and the efforts that have been made to minimize damages from school sports injuries on the MSHSAA website. This report is located by going to www.mshsaa.org and then going to the SPORTS MEDICINE TAB.

    Patrons and Students,

    In an effort to meet the needs of our students, the district purchased a new service to help identify and resolve concerns. Whether it is bullying, violence, crime or something you just need to talk to someone about, please let us know. Tell a parent, tell a teacher, or use our school hotline.

    If you send a text message, a school official can reply to you. If you call, you will be asked to leave a voice message that a school official can listen to. They are not able to see your phone number or identity. To the extent that the caller wants to be, concerns can be expressed completely in an anonymous approach.

    Posters have been hung in each of the building promoting the system.

    The success of every student is critical. If concerns are not resolved effectively it affects kids in negative ways.  I encourage you to report concerns to the building administrators or myself. In the event that you do not feel comfortable reporting concerns in person, then I ask that you call our school hotline at (573) 271-2010.
