Mrs. Hammett

Background:  I grew up in Columbia, Missouri on a small farm where I was actively involved in 4-H, showing cattle and sports.  My family showed registered Angus cattle all over the country.  I have two children, Cole and Lauren and I am excited to know my children are going to get an opportunity to experience living on a small farm and be involved in Agriculture like I did as a kid. We have a small herd of Boer goats that I enjoy working with on the farmand  at shows.  My family enjoys showing the goats all over Missouri and even other states.

Education:  After graduating from Hickman High School, I attended the University of Missouri-Columbia.  I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture Education.  I taught Agriculture at Mexico Junior High School and lived on a farm in Vandalia, Missouri with my husband Nick.  Nick and I moved to Colorado in 1999 so he could obtain his Master's Degree in Animal Science.  I obtained my Master's Degree in Education from Baker University in 2005.

Work History:  I began teaching agriculture in Mexico Missouri in 1997 and left Mexico in 1999 for a move to Colorado.  While in Colorado, I began teaching science education to middle school students. When we returned to Missouri in 2003 I continued to teach science in the Park Hill School district.  In 2006, we moved back to Columbia and I began teaching science at Southern Boone Middle School.  I have taught in the district eight years and in 2012 I returned to agriculture education.

Future:  I truly love to teach about agriculture; it allows me to bring practical real-world experiences to the classroom for each of you to learn.  It is my goal to provide you with the same opportunities agriculture has given me.  I am grateful for the opportunity to be an educator at Southern Boone and look forward to a wonderful and successful school year.
