  • NOTICE OF MEETING

     

    Public notice is hereby given that a special meeting of the Board of Education of Southern Boone County R-I School District will be held in the Central Office Board Room, 5275 West Red Tail Drive, Ashland, Missouri, on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at 6:30 p.m.  Among the matters to be considered and acted upon will be the following:

     

    A resolution calling an election on April 6, 2021, on the question whether to issue general obligation bonds in the amount of $7,700,000 for the purpose of constructing, improving, expanding, renovating, furnishing and equipping new and existing school facilities.

     

    The meeting will be open to the public.

    SOUTHERN BOONE COUNTY R-I SCHOOLS

    ASHLAND, MISSOURI

     

    The Southern Boone County R-I School District will accept declarations of candidacy from any person interested in running for a position on the School Board in the April 6th, 2021 election.  Persons interested may file at the superintendent’s office located at 5275 West Red Tail Drive, Ashland, MO.

     

    Filing will begin on December 15th, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. and will continue during the district’s regular business hours, which are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. when school is in session.  The days that school is not in session, the office will be open 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The office will be closed in cases of inclement weather. The office will be closed on December 24th, December 25th,  December 31st, 2020 and January 1st, 2021.  The filing time will be extended until 5:00 p.m. on January 19th, 2021.

    There are two positions available with a three-year term.

  •  SBC Kindergarten Registration

     

    Dear Southern Boone Families,

    Kindergarten registration for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year will run Jan 20th to March 12th. You may register your student(s) at the Primary School (803 S Henry Clay Blvd)  Mon-Fri during the hours of 8:30-3:45. The student does not need to be present to register. At this time we are going to forgo the Kindergarten screening to a later date. 

     

    In order to be eligible for kindergarten, students must be five (5) years old prior to August 1, 2021 AND the following information will need to be documented:

    • Proof of residency (i.e. rental/lease agreement, utility bill, etc.) (cell phone bills are not accepted)
    • Current immunization record meeting Missouri Dept. of Health guidelines
    • Certified copy of Birth Certificate (we will make a copy and return your original)

     

    Students that will be four (4) years old prior to August 1, 2021 may apply to the preschool program.  Applications may be obtained at the Primary School office, Central office or online at the address listed below, hover over Schools, then click on Preschool and print out the application starting Jan 8th 2021.  Applications for preschool must be returned no later than Feb 26, 2021.  There are a limited number of students selected for this program.  Applications can be mailed, dropped off, emailed, or faxed.

    Preschool Program

    Application/Selection Process

    All potential applicants must be four by July 31st of the upcoming school year.  

     

    Program Goal:

    The Southern Boone County R-I Preschool strives to create a learning environment that empowers preschool children to be confident, successful and lifelong learners. We serve children with a variety of educational needs who benefit from a school experience before they enter Kindergarten.  Children will be selected based on information gathered from the following:

    • Parent Questionnaire
    • Parents as Teachers Screening (if applicable)
    • Input from other relevant sources (daycare providers, special service providers, etc.)

    Application Process:

    • Parents must submit the  application (please right click and open in a new tab) by February 26, 2021 .  The application contains information and questions about the child’s general background.  
    • Applications are reviewed by preschool teachers, director and building principal to identify children who meet the preschool program goal.  
    • Students are randomly selected to create a balanced classroom. Enrollment is limited and some students may be placed on a waiting list.  If a child is not selected for initial placement in the program, parents will be contacted as positions become available.  
    • All applicants will be notified regarding placement in the program around Mid-March.
