A MESSAGE FROM MR. FELMLEE

March 24, 2020

Dear Southern Boone Families,

Yesterday, county health officials issued a stay-at-home order beginning March 25 through April 24.  This extended our school closure as well as our need to continue providing Alternative Methods of Instruction for our students.

My sincere hope is to return to school on Monday, April 27, or sooner if health officials advise.  Understand the order can be extended, rescinded, or amended at any time.  I continue to monitor the situation and the administration team and I will keep you informed of any changes or additional information as it becomes available.

Additional information on the order is posted at: https://www.como.gov/CMS/pressreleases/view.php?id=6656&tbiframe=1

I cannot begin to thank you enough for your flexibility, understanding, and support during this unprecedented time.  Everyone is doing an amazing job keeping our essential operations going and working to keep students engaged and learning in creative ways. Please join me in praising our custodial, grounds and maintenance crews for certifying our buildings have been deep cleaned and are ready for students, teachers and staff when the time comes. They have done an incredible job! Together we continue to make differences in the lives of our students.  We will get through this together.

The administrative team, members of the board and I are working together on our next steps as a district and guidance regarding alternative learning and essential operations for the extension of our current closure. Our meal service for students will continue as planned starting up again on Sunday, March 29, from 4pm to 6pm at the Middle School bus loop and the Hartsburg American Legion Hall.  This service will continue for as long as need be. If you wish to participate in the food service program, please respond to the emails that have been sent to your accounts.

Thank you for your support of our Southern Boone School District and the communities that make up our great school district.

Respectfully,

Christopher Felmlee
