School Cancellation

A MESSAGE FROM MR. FELMLEE

April 10, 2020

Dear Southern Boone Families,

Governor Mike Parson announced that Missouri schools shall remain closed through this school year. This means the Southern Boone County School District’s facilities will remain closed; however, our extended learning and food distribution for students will continue through Friday, May 22, 2020.

This announcement was not one we were expecting to hear today; however, we appreciate that protecting the health and safety of our students and staff members continues to be a top priority for our state. This announcement brings with it a number of additional questions. What should we do about summer school? What will the re-entry to school look like? While we don’t have all the answers yet, we will relay information as soon as possible.

Having said this, please realize I am firmly committed to hosting high school prom, senior graduation, and promotion ceremonies once restrictions with public gatherings are lifted due to public health concerns. Our students have worked hard for this and I look forward to celebrating their accomplishments with the community. I am also working on a plan for a parade for our students once the public restrictions have been lifted.

I hope that you and your loved ones are doing well during this unexpected and unprecedented time. As always, our district’s first priority is the health and well-being of our students and families. Our teachers, staff, and administration are working hard to maintain strong and productive relationships with our students, and continue to provide meaningful and relevant learning opportunities during the school closure.

Thank you for your support of our school district and our Southern Boone Communities. The district is here to support you.

Respectfully,

Christopher Felmlee

Superintendent of Schools
