
The 4th grade classes in the elementary school had a Halloween Door Decorating Contest. After the votes were tallied, Ms. Picha's class was chosen as the winner of the contest with the door with the spider webs and lights.









Some of the 3rd and 4th grade students at the elementary school participated in the annual pumpkin decorating contest. The pumpkins had to be based on their favorite book character. As you can see, the elementary school has some amazingly talented students!











Opaa! Food Management is hosting Breakfast with a Champion this Friday morning at the primary, elementary and middle school cafeterias. Students will be able to enjoy a healthy breakfast with Southern Boone Football players on game day!


The Ashland Optimist Club came to the elementary school on Thursday and gave each third grade student their own dictionary. Each year, the organization provides dictionaries to all students in the third grade. Thank you Ashland Optimist Club for your support of our students!

Students in Ms. Farris' 4th grade class recently planned, prepped, built and tested solar ovens in an experiment to make s'mores. The students had a lot of fun using science to make a delicious treat!








The elementary school held its first Book Swap of the school year last week. Every student received a free book of their choice. They were also able to bring in books from home to swap for books that were new to them.






Keith Mueller with Boone Electric Cooperative visited the elementary school today and gave a presentation to all 4th grade students about electrical energy and how to be safe around electricity.



Last week, Ms. Farris' 4th grade class spent time with Elementary School Counselor Ms. Horton and played a team-building game to learn about kindness and respect. They even earned principal pride stars!

Students in Mrs. Shepherd’s third-grade summer school class have enjoyed doing several science experiments this week. They did an “explosion baggie” experiment of vinegar and baking soda to demonstrate chemical reactions. Students also investigated the process of osmosis through a growing gummy bear experiment.





Staff from the elementary school gave a presentation about self-regulation this week at the State PBIS Summer Institute Conference at the Lake of the Ozarks.


Camp Invention is coming to Southern Boone! In partnership with the National Inventors Hall of Fame, Southern Boone Elementary School is excited to offer the Camp Invention program to children entering Kindergarten through 6th grade.
This inspiring, weeklong summer experience provides opportunities for open-ended, hands-on exploration of science, technology, engineering and more!

Mrs. Palmer's 3rd grade class has been learning how to find the area and perimeter of different rectangles in their current geometry unit. Students were challenged to create a rectangle with a specific area using the floor tiles that would have the largest perimeter.








Students in Ms. Engemann's 4th grade class have been learning about force and motion. They learned about Rube Goldberg and his creative machines to demonstrate a simple task. Students then created their own Rube Goldberg projects. Their task was to get a marble into a cup.
