Severe Thunderstorm Damages Goal Post at Southern Boone High School Stadium

The south end zone goal post at the Southern Boone High School outdoor stadium was damaged during a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Boone County on Monday, September 16, 2025. The damage occurred shortly after 5 p.m.

The school district has already ordered a replacement goal post and is planning for installation by this Friday. At this time, we still anticipate hosting our first home varsity football game of the season against Boonville on Friday evening as scheduled.

“We are thankful no one was injured during the storm,” said Southern Boone Activities Director Trent Tracy. “We are making arrangements to have a new goal post installed as quickly as possible so our students and fans can enjoy Friday night’s home game.”

The district will share further updates once more information is available.
