Thank you so much to our maintenance department, Mrs. Shutt, Mrs. Heuer, Dr. Roth, and Miss Wilson (our new Ag teacher) for designing and putting in our new landscaping at the middle school. We also appreciate all the middle school and high school students that helped work on this area! It looks amazing and we can't wait to see it continue to flourish.

6th Grade hosted their very own episode of The Weakest Link! Participants answered questions based off of 6th grade learning and random trivia! Beau B came out on top as our strongest link! Carter B and Carter S were winners of the mini episodes!

It’s a fifth grade tradition to read the novel, Holes. After students have read the book, we celebrate with Holes Day. Students participate in different activities throughout the day that correlate with the book. At the end of the day we watch the movie and enjoy some special treats: Root Beer (muddy water), Funions (onions), and Sploosh (spiced peaches)

5th graders in Mrs. Dooley's Science class made marble roller coaster this week! They used the engineering designing process to build the coaster using only a few items: cups, plates, tape and construction paper. We love when students get hands-on opportunities.

We are so proud of the work our 8th grade Beta Club does each year! This week, they visited downtown Columbia and passed out random acts of kindness slips. Thanks to our amazing sponsors, Kristen Long and Beth Lambiotte.

5th-grade social studies students stepped into the shoes of newcomers to America through an interactive Ellis Island simulation. The project started with a roll of the dice, which determined each student’s "immigrant profile," including where they were from and what skills they had. The classroom turned into a bustling processing center where students underwent medical exams and waited in a "Great Hall" for legal inspections. While most were finally "admitted" to the United States, a few students were sent to the island’s hospital or detained, and some were even deported. This hands-on lesson helped the class understand the hope and the hardships faced by real immigrants long ago.

Our SBMS students were honored to receive personal letters from Missouri Lieutenant Governor David Wasinger following their participation in the “Letters to the Lieutenant Governor” writing project in Mr. Garrison’s classroom. Each student shared thoughtful reflections about America, patriotism, and the future of our country. We are proud of the effort, pride, and citizenship our students demonstrated through their writing.
