Our SBMS students were honored to receive personal letters from Missouri Lieutenant Governor David Wasinger following their participation in the “Letters to the Lieutenant Governor” writing project in Mr. Garrison’s classroom. Each student shared thoughtful reflections about America, patriotism, and the future of our country. We are proud of the effort, pride, and citizenship our students demonstrated through their writing.

Our talented Southern Boone Middle School art students did an outstanding job representing our district Thursday night at the Youth Fiber Arts Exhibition in Columbia! 🎨🧵

Students showcased their creativity through sewing, crocheting, knitting and needle felting—and their hard work truly stood out. ✂️🪡 Lucia Gares earned 1st place for the second year in a row 🥇, while Autumn Payne and Kaydence Pointer received honorable mentions 👏

Even more exciting, the work of these three students will be on display for the next 10 days at the Columbia Art League Gallery for the public to enjoy. 🖼️ We are incredibly proud of how these students represented Southern Boone! 🦅❤️🖤

📚🧠 Words Matter—and Our Eagles Proved It! 🦅❤️🖤

Southern Boone Middle School students recently took on a worldwide vocabulary challenge—and the results were incredible!

During February and March, students mastered an impressive 33,709 words, finishing 7th among all middle schools in the U.S. and Canada in the Vocabulary Bowl. 🌎 Out of more than 1 million students competing worldwide, four of our students placed in the Top 30 globally, including a standout performance by sixth-grader Sophia Yeager, who finished 10th in the world!

To make things even more exciting, the middle school hosted its own competition alongside the Vocabulary Bowl, recognizing top performers in each grade level with gift cards generously donated by Veterans United.

🏆 Top Students by Grade:

5th Grade
• Quinton Hamm – 904 words
• Grey Horn – 390 words

6th Grade
• Sophia Yeager – 3,796 words 💥
• Aubrey Stranz – 711 words
• Carter Schler – 709 words

7th Grade
• Alexis Buckner – 2,124 words
• Olivia Hammond – 2,104 words
• Raylee Daniel – 884 words

8th Grade
• Harley Crane – 2,218 words
• Wyatt Shanks – 1,452 words
• Holland Hughes – 1,403 words

We are incredibly proud of these students for their dedication, effort, and love of learning. Congratulations! 📖✨
