Students in Mrs. Rogers' 6th grade class volunteered to prepare potatoes for Thursday's community Thanksgiving dinner at the middle school. The students peeled, washed and chopped 50 pounds of potatoes in an hour.







The middle school is hosting a basketball showcase this afternoon. Southern Boone 7th and 8th Grade Girls Basketball teams are taking on California. All middle school students are attending the games to cheer on their classmates.




Students in Mrs. Dooley's 5th grade science class recently worked on creating elephant toothpaste and looked at how the conservation of mass plays a role in chemical changes.


Mrs. Edwards' 5th grade math class made Halloween Candy Catapults last week using straws, rubber bands, paper cups, and a spoon. The students planned, built and tested their designs before competing with each other. The winning catapult launched candy a distance of five feet.

Mrs. Batye’s 5th grade English language arts class is learning about figurative language. Students listened to songs and identified similes, metaphors, and onomatopoeia in the music. Students then applied those skills by writing figurative language about a pumpkin they created.






Opaa! Food Management is hosting Breakfast with a Champion this Friday morning at the primary, elementary and middle school cafeterias. Students will be able to enjoy a healthy breakfast with Southern Boone Football players on game day!


A group of 7th and 8th grade students went on a field trip last week to Missouri S&T. The Kummer Center for STEM Education hosted the Expanding Your Horizons Conference for middle school students on the university campus in Rolla.






5th grade students had a great time this afternoon at the Ashland FFA Children's Barnyard!

Students in Mrs. Dooley's 5th grade science classes made Goop (oobleck) this week and explored the cornstarch and water substance using their sense of touch and sight to make observations about it.










In honor of today being National Custodian Appreciation Day, the Middle School Student Council surprised the custodians in their building this afternoon with gifts and a banner signed by students.




The middle school's Eagle Time theme last Friday was "teamwork". Mr. Wren's 7th grade Eagle Time class paired up to complete STEM construction projects using both math and engineering to create catapults, stair lifts, and much more!


The Middle School Student Council opened the Eagle Store this week. Students can use the Eagle Bucks that they earn from engaging in positive behaviors to buy prizes. The Eagle Store is open Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:20AM-7:55AM at the middle school concession stand.




Southern Boone Middle School and Youth Cheerleaders did a great job last night at the middle school football games at Osage.
