Students in Ms. DeVault's 5th grade summer school geography class have been learning about different regions of the US and mapping the 50 states.






Middle school students in Mrs. Morris' summer school math classes have been exploring area and perimeter of composite shapes, along with angle relationships by way of designing and constructing quilt blocks.






The 8th Grade Art Show is from 5PM-7PM this evening in the middle school cafeteria.


The Southern Boone County R-I School District is pleased to announce Amanda Toepke as one of the new assistant principals at Southern Boone Middle School. Mrs. Toepke has been a sixth-grade English language arts and social studies teacher at Smithon Middle School in Columbia for the past 10 years. She will officially begin her duties as assistant principal on August 1st, 2023.

Students in Mrs. Rogers' middle school WINGS class have been welcoming artisans over the past few days as part of their unit of students on artisans. The guest speakers have included Tim Klippel, a professional leather worker; Bill Digennaro, a retired computer programmer, professor, and leather journal craftsman; and Cory Fischer, owner of RiverWood Designs, LLC, who creates hardwood and resin creations.







Mrs. Morris' middle school math classes handed out teacher awards this week for Teacher Appreciation Week.

SAVE THE DATE: The 8th Grade Art Show will be Wednesday, May 17th from 5-7PM in the middle school cafeteria.


Students in Mrs. Dooley's 5th grade science class recently worked on a project to gather evidence to support an argument that the apparent brightness of the sun is dependent upon an observer's distance from the sun.
In this activity, students constructed a model solar system and gathered observations of the sun's apparent brightness (using a flashlight) from each planet within their model. They used those observations as evidence to support a claim about which planet is best suited to explore with a solar-powered planetary rover.






Sixth grade students are having a great time this evening at their dance in the middle school gym!


Earlier this week, Mrs. Kennedy’s middle school social studies classes participated in a Government Word Wall Scavenger Hunt. The students will be spending 4th quarter learning about government systems and their rights as U.S. citizens.
