The Southern Boone County R-I School District is pleased to announce Jacob Watson as the next assistant superintendent for the 2024-2025 school year. Mr. Watson is currently the principal at Oak Ridge Intermediate School in the Camdenton School District. He will officially begin his role as assistant superintendent for our school district on July 1st, 2024.

"I am excited to welcome Jacob Watson as our next assistant superintendent,” said School Superintendent Dr. Tim Roth. “With his dedication to educational excellence and proven leadership, I am confident Mr. Watson will make significant contributions to our district's success."

Mr. Watson has been serving as the intermediate school principal in Camdenton since 2022. Previously, he was the elementary school principal at Cole County R-V School District in Eugene for one year, a school principal at Jamestown C-I School District for four years and a P.E. and health teacher at Tipton R-VI School District for three years.

Mr. Watson earned a Master of Arts Degree in Business Sports Management from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas and a teaching certificate from the University of Central Missouri. He has also received a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Central Missouri and a Specialist Degree in Administration from Northwest Missouri State University.

“I am thankful and blessed to have the opportunity to work with and help lead a passionate group of teachers and staff who have demonstrated excellence in education for years,” said Jacob Watson. “I am also excited to be in a position where I can collaborate with staff to make a positive impact on our students, their families and the community. I look forward to serving the Southern Boone School District for many years.”

Mr. Watson has been married to his college sweetheart for 15 years and they have one son, Baker, who is two and a half years old. He enjoys being outside, boat rides and snow skiing. Mr. Watson says that his biggest personal accomplishment is his son, Baker. He loves being a dad and watching him grow and become the most thoughtful and caring little boy.

The Southern Boone Board of Education met during their regular board meeting on Monday, March 18th, 2024, and approved Jacob Watson as assistant superintendent for the 2024-2025 school year. He replaces Christy Jones who has accepted a job as superintendent for next school year at a district in Southwest Missouri.
