MSBA School Board Award

The Southern Boone County R-I Board of Education has earned the Missouri School Boards’ Association (MSBA) 2026 Governance Team Award, marking the third consecutive year the district’s board of education has received this prestigious recognition.

The award is presented annually to Missouri school boards and superintendents who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to professional growth, effective governance, leadership development, and advocacy on behalf of public education. Southern Boone is among a select group of districts across the state receiving the honor.

"Receiving this award for the third year in a row is a testament to the dedication and commitment of our board members to continuous learning and effective leadership," said Amy Begemann, President of the Southern Boone Board of Education. "Our board is committed to making informed decisions that support student success and strengthen our schools and community. We are honored to be recognized once again by MSBA."

The Governance Team Award recognizes school boards that actively participate in professional development opportunities, regional and statewide leadership activities, and legislative advocacy efforts that support Missouri public schools.

"Strong school governance is essential to the success of our students, staff, and district," said Dr. Tim Roth, School Superintendent. "Our board members consistently invest their time and energy into professional learning, collaboration, and advocacy to ensure Southern Boone continues providing exceptional educational opportunities for all students."

To qualify for the Governance Team Award, districts must meet several criteria, including:

  • Maintaining full accreditation status.

  • Having all seven board members complete MSBA's Essential New Board Member Certification.

  • Having all seven board members complete the annual MSBA Refresher Training requirement.

  • Having at least two board members earn Advanced Certification through MSBA.

  • Having at least one board member earn Master Certification.

  • Ensuring a quorum of the board and the superintendent attends the MSBA Annual Conference and a regional meeting.

  • Participating in MSBA Advocacy Day.

  • Having a board representative participate in MSBA's Delegate Assembly.

Recipients of the 2026 Governance Team Award were recognized during MSBA's Summer Summit held at the Lake of the Ozarks.

This year, Board Member Jeremy Galloway achieved the Master Board Member Certification.

The Southern Boone Board of Education remains committed to continuous improvement, effective governance practices, and advocacy efforts that support the district's mission of providing a high-quality education and preparing students for future success.
