QUESTION NO. 1: No Tax Rate Increase Bond Issue
Question No. 1 in the April 2nd, 2024 election is an $11.6 million no tax rate increase bond issue that would be used to help fund a high school expansion construction project. The project would include a new vocational and agriculture department wing, along with additional classrooms, parking lot improvements and needed roof repairs at the high school.

REMINDER: The Southern Boone Chamber of Commerce and the Southern Boone Economic Development Council are hosting Virtual Candidate Forums for the City of Ashland and Southern Boone Board of Education candidates at 7 p.m. this evening. Join Southern Boone Primary School for Family Reading Night this evening from 5:30PM-7PM!
Southern Boone PTA is hosting a Food Truck Frenzy fundraiser this evening from 5PM-8PM in the primary/elementary school bus loop.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to the Southern Boone PTA to help support teachers and staff in our school district.
The Southern Boone School District is beginning the process of filling the vacancy on the Southern Boone Board of Education left by the passing of board member Crystal Branch. The application window for the vacant school board position is open now and will run for two weeks, closing at 3 p.m. on April 3rd, 2024.

The Southern Boone County R-I School District is pleased to announce Jacob Watson as the next assistant superintendent for the 2024-2025 school year. Mr. Watson is currently the principal at Oak Ridge Intermediate School in the Camdenton School District. He will officially begin his role as assistant superintendent for our school district on July 1st, 2024.

The Southern Boone School District held a Community Breakfast and Program for the newly formed Southern Boone Golden Eagles Club in the high school commons this morning. This new initiative is designed for individuals ages 50 and older and local business leaders in the community. The primary objective of this club is to provide a platform for members to stay informed about the exciting developments and achievements within the school district. During Monday night's school board meeting, the Southern Boone Football team was recognized for hosting a Pink Out Game last fall and raising $1,386 that will be donated to Ellis Fischel Cancer Center for traveling mammogram services.

Pasta with a Purpose Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser will be held on Saturday from 11AM-6PM in the middle school cafeteria. Proceeds from the event will go towards paying off student lunch debt in the school district.
Middle school students in Jr. Beta Club volunteered at the Southern Boone Learning Garden this week to help prepare the garden for spring. They helped with spreading mulch, weeding and cleaning up garden beds.
