Ms. Millar's 1st grade class had a special guest visit them on Thursday. Students used their own data to compare a baby's measurement to their own.





The Southern Boone County R-I School District is pleased to announce Shelly Sconce as the new assistant principal at Southern Boone High School. She currently is a math teacher at South Callaway High School and will officially begin her duties as assistant principal on July 1st, 2023.

Earlier this week, Mrs. Sartain’s 2nd grade class played with toothpicks and marshmallows to practice being engineers. They all created different designs to see who could get the most toothpicks to stand up.




SAVE THE DATE: Southern Boone High School Graduation will be on Sunday, May 21st, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. and will be held on the baseball/softball field.
The graduation ceremony will be live-streamed on the Southern Boone Activities YouTube Channel.

The Middle School Family and Community Partnership Committee is teaming up with the Southern Boone YMCA and Ashland Parks and Rec Department for an Earth Day Community Clean-up Day at 8AM this Saturday morning.


Ms. Engemann, Ms. Fredrick, Ms. Conley, Ms. Holzschuh and Mrs. Rouse's 4th grade classes went on a field trip today to Ha Ha Tonka State Park at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Registration is open for 2023 Summer School for students that will be in Kindergarten-8th grade during the 2023-2024 school year. Summer school will take place June 5th-29th. Registration deadline is Friday, April 28th.

Students in Mrs. Dooley's 5th grade science class recently worked on a project to gather evidence to support an argument that the apparent brightness of the sun is dependent upon an observer's distance from the sun.
In this activity, students constructed a model solar system and gathered observations of the sun's apparent brightness (using a flashlight) from each planet within their model. They used those observations as evidence to support a claim about which planet is best suited to explore with a solar-powered planetary rover.






Some of our building administrators attended the Missouri Job Opportunities in Education Career Fair on Saturday in Columbia to share job opportunities available at our school district. Thank you to Mrs. Clark, Dr. James and Mr. Beaudoin for representing Southern Boone!


Congratulations to the High School Quiz Bowl team on their 2nd place finish in districts! They competed in the Class 4 District 7 Tournament on Saturday at Oak Grove. The quiz bowl team will compete in the NAQT Small Schools National Tournament in Chicago later this month.


The Southern Boone School Board of Education will meet for its monthly board meeting on Monday, April 17th, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. in the central office boardroom. The meeting is open to the public.

Sixth grade students are having a great time this evening at their dance in the middle school gym!


What happens when you put Mentos candy in a soda bottle? Students in Mrs. Gentry and Mrs. Breece's 2nd grade classes found out during today's outdoor science experiment.


On Thursday, several 3rd grade classes went on a field trip to visit the Missouri State Capitol and spent time at Community Park in Jefferson City. The rest of the 3rd grade classes will go on the field trip next week.









The 1st grade classes at the primary school welcomed parents and special guests to the classrooms this morning. Everyone enjoyed breakfast and students shared their reading and writing skills. It was a great way to celebrate our students' hard work!
