
Earlier this month, students in Mrs. Dooley's 5th grade summer school science class explored nature. They went on a nature walk to collect all the colors of the rainbow and made nature art pieces. The students also collected items to make musical nature instruments.









Students in Mrs. Golightly's 7th/8th grade summer school science class are learning about DNA's structure. Students created models of the DNA double helix structure and had the opportunity to perform a DNA extraction from strawberries.







Andy Jahnsen visited with 5th grades students during summer school to talk about his job as a project manager for the Gary Sinise Foundation. This week, students are creating blueprints, and building their own tiny houses. They will be incorporating concepts that they learned during math lessons such as area and perimeter.




The Annual 4th Grade Lemonade Stands was held today at the elementary school. Students have been reading the book, The Lemonade War and learned about starting a business and practiced counting back change. All of the money raised will be donated to a non-profit organization.

Students in Ms. DeVault's 5th grade summer school geography class have been learning about different regions of the US and mapping the 50 states.






Middle school students in Mrs. Morris' summer school math classes have been exploring area and perimeter of composite shapes, along with angle relationships by way of designing and constructing quilt blocks.






The Southern Boone School Board of Education will hold a public hearing for the 2023-2024 budget, followed by its regular board meeting on Thursday, June 22nd, 2023. The public hearing will start at 6:15 p.m. and the board meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the central office boardroom and is open to the public.

Mrs. Batye’s 5th grade math class has been reviewing multiplication and division during summer school.
Last week, students interviewed office staff members on how they use division in their daily lives. Then, students solved real-life story problems and shared their answers and methods by using FlipGrid.
Students also created their own workout routines by using multiplication and division strategies.

Southern Boone Primary and Elementary Schools received their 2023 Gold Level Recognition Awards and recognition of 15 years of successful implementation of Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support at the Heart of Missouri SWPBS Recognition Celebration in Columbia today.


Students in Mrs. Shepherd's third grade summer school class used different codes in their drawings and the robot would interpret the codes to complete the movement. Students were able to design a path and code it specifically on how they wanted the robot to move.







Southern Boone Parents As Teachers' Night at the Park is this evening from 5:30-6:30PM at Ashland City Park. Just a reminder these events are for all families in Southern Boone School District with children under the age of 5 (older siblings are welcome to attend as well).


Students in Ms. Huntebrinker's 3rd grade summer school class successfully broke out of a digital breakout room during their library specials class last week.


Fourth grade students in Mrs. Rogers' classes at the elementary school are preparing for the annual Lemonade Wars fundraiser at the end of summer school by learning how to make change and count it back to their customers.




Students at the primary school celebrated a great first week of summer school with popsicles on the playground this afternoon!
