Heather Morgan, Michelle Ford and Emily Brown have completed their eMINTS training. These teachers have learned new strategies to use in the classroom and have earned the title of eMINTS Certified Teacher through the National eMINTS Center at the University of Missouri. eMINTS is a nationally recognized program that guides teachers in instructional techniques and integrating technology into the classroom to elevate learning for all.

Some students from the elementary and middle school have been participating in the Girls on the Run program over the past couple of months. On Saturday, the students competed in a 5K event in Columbia. You can learn more about the program at www.heartofmissourigirlsontherun.org.
Students in Mrs. Batye’s 5th Grade Eagle Time Class had the opportunity to “Teach the Class” a learned skill, hobby, game, etc. Students have learned how to make a clay bead bracelet, roping, life in Jamaica, frogs and knitting.
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. This is a special time to honor the individuals who lend their passion and skills to educating the children in our community.
Teachers show up each and every day, from the time students get off the school bus, to the time they arrive safely at home each afternoon. Educators are committed to ensuring that students have the tools they need to reach their full potential.
We want to celebrate, acknowledge and appreciate the daily sacrifices teachers make for every child in our schools. For many of them, teaching is heart work. Teachers touch the hearts of students in a special way and make a lasting difference in their lives.

Today is School Lunch Hero Day! The Opaa! food services staff serves around 1,100 breakfasts and over 4,000 lunches a week in our school district. Thank you to the food services staff for everything they do for our students at Southern Boone!
Students in Mrs. Golightly's biology classes gained hands-on experience by modeling natural selection through the feeding patterns of birds. Through the "Battle of the Beaks" lab, students learned about possible reasons why natural selection occurs by trying to pick up a variety of "food" with different types of "beaks."

Congratulations to Southern Boone High School Senior Elizabeth Hess on receiving the Missouri Scholars 100 Award. She was honored during a ceremony last weekend in Columbia that recognized the top 100 seniors in the graduating class of 2023 in the state of Missouri.

With Monday being May 1st, students in Mrs. Francis' kindergarten class made May baskets and delivered them to houses near the primary school. This has been a tradition at the primary school for over 20 years!
